From our roots in Vermont and our long history of credible sourcing, Brandywine has a longstanding commitment to responsible forestry practices as evidenced by our Brandywine Sourcing Policy - PDF which we make public.
We strongly believe that wood is an environmentally-sound building material and flooring choice. Besides being renewable, wood is non-toxic, energy-efficient to manufacture, and is recyclable and biodegradable. Wood - The Ideal Building Material
Brandywine supports responsible wood use and forestry practices through our manufacturing and sourcing practices. To assist us in implementing our commitment to responsible sourcing, Brandywine is a member of World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) North America Forest and Trade Network (NA-FTN). WWF's NA-FTN
At the highest level, the goal of our Sourcing Policy is to phase out wood from sources that, from an environmental standpoint, are high risk or undesireable while increasing our supplies of wood from credibly certified well-managed forests.
While many make vague environmental commitments without substantiating their claims or following through with demonstrable results, we publish our progress in the implementation of our Sourcing Policy, utilizing North America Forest and Trade Network (NA-FTN)'s step-wise approach and definitions.
